Full Moon in Aquarius: The Common Good
On July 31st we will have the second Full Moon in July. The first was the Full Moon of Capricorn that occurred on July 1st. This makes this Full Moon a Blue Moon. Blue Moon’s have no real astrological significance nor are they all that rare. Yet having two Full Moons in a month that is for the most part a Cancer Birthday Month, raises the emotional stakes a bit. Not that we need the stakes raised. Even without this second Full Moon, July has proven to be quite emotional.
Part of the reason for that is that Mars is moving in concert with the Sun. This occurs on alternating years, next year it will be moving in opposition to the Sun. Mars always bring a heightened sense of immediacy to any situation. The need to act is strong and with Mars in Cancer for the entire month of July, and much of our action comes from a need to feel secure. Yet security is an illusion. It has been particularly challenging in the US, a Cancer Country, as old and new fears rise up from the collective unconscious and manifest out in the world as acts of fearful aggression. It’s as if our greatest fears are being made manifest.
Saturn, the planet of as you sow, so shall you reap is in Scorpio for one last gasp, before it leaves and goes back into Sagittarius. Saturn won’t be in Scorpio for another 29 years, so Scorpionic issues are bubbling up from the depths of our unconscious. Scorpio is a water sign, just like Cancer, so emotions are high. And we are not very adept at coming to terms with those emotions. Mainly due to the fact that we have been conditioned to stuff them back down. Well with Saturn in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn stuffing is no longer an option, it’s as if the septic tank of our unconscious can no longer hold the ‘shit’, and it’s time to let it flow. A graphic and perhaps gross metaphor, yet no less apt.
With our unconscious being made conscious, it is time to take responsibility for our feelings. Pluto, which has been in Capricorn since 2008 is mercilessly exposing the shadow of the ‘power over’ paradigm. The most powerful among us are consolidating their power more and more, but rest assured that this will not work. Ultimately it will implode as Natural Law will cause the pendulum to shift. And when I say take responsibility for our feelings, I don’t mean taking the blame for them. Responsibility is about our ability to respond to our feelings. To take the necessary actions to feel them and heal them. This is what this time is about. The ‘Power Over’ Paradigm is coming to an end, and there are a lot of bodies in the streets, both metaphorically and actually.
What we may notice as we feel our feelings and take actions to heal them, is that we are not alone in our pain and suffering. In fact if we look over ‘enemy lines’ we will find that those we identify as ‘them’ (as opposed to us) are in just as much pain. What separates us is how we react and respond to that pain. Yet it’s all coming up to ultimately heal it.
This Full Moon is in Aquarius, the sign associated with the common good. The Sun, which is opposite the Moon is in Leo, a very powerful position for the Sun, as the Sun is the ruling planet of Leo. Oppositions (the aspect or geometrical relationship that creates the Full Moon) are about awareness. It is a point in time when we have the broadest picture along an axis. The Leo/Aquarius Axis in Astrology is know as the Axis of Love. It is the path between personal subjective love, and impersonal objective love.
We all have beating hearts (Leo) that move life giving blood through the circulatory system (Aquarius) to oxygenate and feed all the cells of our bodies. This metaphor can be applied to the Body of Humanity, as our collective heart symbolized by Leo pumps life affirming Love to all parts of the Humanity, through the connection we have with others (Aquarius). Those connections are the lines of energy that connect us to one another. Our bodies may separate us, our minds definitely separate us, but our feelings are what make us human and it is our feelings that ultimately connect us.
It is said that there are only two emotions, Love or Fear. This full Moon reminds us that Love is the answer. We can create a New Paradigm based on Love, the most potent force know in our world. We each have special talents and gifts (Leo), it’s time to share them with each other (Aquarius) and we will come through this Gateway stronger and more whole.
