New Moon in Aries: A New Beginning
On April 18th there is a New Moon in the sign of Aries. This New Moon occurs at the 29th degree of Aries (there are 30 degrees per sign), so we are just about at the end of sign. Aries is about becoming. As the first sign of the zodiac it rises up out of the amorphous wholeness of Pisces ready to be something new and unique. In Aries we are open to new experiences, in fact we crave new experience and we like to have the freedom to go as we please.
Over the last few months we have moved through some very transformational energies. The last of the 7 exact Pluto/Uranus squares happened in March, followed by a New Moon Solar Eclipse in the last degree of Pisces. Then at the start of April we had a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Libra. The last Pluto/Uranus square portended a time when we are being required to take action to build our future. The eclipses on the other hand required us to release any emotional baggage that we were still holding onto that kept us isolated, angry and fearful. The combination of these two energies now have us on the precipice of a totally new beginning. One we are to face together.
Together? Yes, together as one people, moving together in harmony towards a more fair and verdant future. But how you ask? If we look around at the world we live in we seem to be as far as we can be from that reality. Or are we? Is that just what we are lead to believe. If we look a little harder there are all manner of grassroots movements forwarding an agenda of cooperation, respect for the planet and a whole new world view.
The Sabian Symbol for this degree of Aries is: The Music of the Spheres. The keynote to this image, according to Dane Rudhyar, developer of Humanistic Astrology is: Attunement to Cosmic Order. How is cosmic order expressed on Planet Earth? Natural Law of course. The Laws of Nature are to guide us. Here’s a few natural laws to get us started. Never take more than you need. Don’t sh*t where you eat, working cooperatively is more efficient. Sounds like common sense doesn’t it?
This type of thinking, doing and being, runs up against a lot of sacred cows in our culture, Consumerism, Capitalism, Fundamentalist Religions of all stripes, the whole idea of ownership, and what the pursuit of happiness really means. Over the next few years we will be working all of this out. If we can keep the ideal in mind while working diligently and untiringly toward a future of cooperation we will change the world.
Part of the challenges we have faced since 2012 have actually been the process of finding out for ourselves who we are, what is essential in our lives, what kind of life do I want to live, what do I want to leave for our children. We have come up with some pretty profound answers and now it’s time to put our backs into it and make it happen.
We are the change we want to see, so things are changing and it will be Awesome!
